Our clinic is in JVC. Every day, we meet dog owners who ask the same question: where can I take my dog?
Dubai has more places for dogs now than before. But the rules are not the same everywhere. Some parks are for residents only. Some parks close in the middle of the day. Some public places do not let dogs in.
This guide gives some places that we can confirm on official websites in October 2026. It also gives the rules to know before you go.
Important: rules, opening hours and access change. Before each visit, check the website of the place, or the signs at the gate.
The rules everywhere
These rules apply in all public places in Dubai:
- Keep your dog on a lead. The UAE Government portal says that a dog must be on a lead in public places. Take the lead off only inside a fenced off-lead area.
- Register your dog. Your dog must have a microchip, a current rabies vaccine and a Dubai Municipality registration. Some dog parks check the ID tag at the gate. Read our guide to pet registration and microchips.
- Clean up. Always bring bags. Pick up the faeces of your dog and put them in a bin.
- Respect other people. Some people are afraid of dogs. Keep your dog near you on paths and near children.
Places in and near JVC
JVC community dog park
Dubai Holding Community Management lists a dog park in the amenities of Jumeirah Village Circle. It also calls JVC a pet-friendly neighbourhood.
The dog park is a fenced area. Your dog can run off the lead inside the fence. Many JVC owners use it in the early morning and in the evening.
Before you go:
- Read the rules on the sign at the gate.
- Keep your dog on the lead until you close the gate.
- Bring water for your dog. In the hot months, the ground and the equipment can get very hot.
Walks on the JVC streets and paths
JVC has many paths, small parks and green areas between the buildings. Many owners walk their dogs on these paths. Some small parks do not let dogs in. Look for signs at the entrance.
Some buildings have their own rules about dogs in the lobby, the lift and the shared areas. Ask your building management.
Town Square
Town Square is a community of Nshama, near Al Qudra Road. The Nshama community website describes a long, open dog park. The rules on that page say that:
- the dog park is for residents only
- a handler must be 16 years or older
- one handler can bring a maximum of three dogs
- dogs must be on a lead when they come in and go out
- rawhide treats are not permitted
If you live in Town Square, this park is a good choice. If you do not live there, do not use it.
Other dog parks in Dubai
JLT Dog Park
DMCC manages the JLT Dog Park in Jumeirah Lake Towers. The park rules say that:
- a dog must have a current Dubai Municipality ID tag on the collar or the harness
- puppies under 4 months old cannot go in
- sick dogs, aggressive dogs and female dogs in heat cannot go in
- one handler can bring a maximum of two dogs
- a handler must be 16 years or older and always have a lead
- food, treats, glass, smoking and alcohol are not permitted
The rules also say that dogs cannot go in outside the opening hours. Check the opening hours on the sign before you go.
Dubai Islands Beach
Most public beaches in Dubai do not let dogs in. Dubai Islands Beach is different. In 2023, Nakheel opened it as the first family beach in Dubai where dogs can swim.
Before you go:
- Check the current opening hours and rules with Nakheel or on the signs.
- Keep your dog on a lead outside the dog areas.
- Bring fresh water. Do not let your dog drink sea water. Sea water can make a dog ill.
- Rinse the salt and sand off your dog after the visit.
- Watch your dog in the water at all times. Not all dogs can swim well.
- Keep your dog away from any snake on the sand. Read our guide to ticks, scorpions and snakes.
Other communities
Many other communities in Dubai have their own dog parks. Some are only for residents. If you live in a large community, ask your community management. They can tell you where the dog areas are and what the rules are.
Indoor places for the hot months
In the hottest months, the heat in Dubai is dangerous for most dogs in the middle of the day. Some pet businesses have indoor, air-conditioned play areas and daycare. These places usually ask for proof of vaccines before the first visit.
Before you book:
- Ask which vaccines the place needs. Many ask for the kennel cough vaccine.
- Ask how many dogs play together, and if staff watch them all the time.
- Visit the place first, if you can.
Read our dog-walking guide by month to plan your walks in each season.
Before you go to a dog park
A dog park is fun for most dogs. But it can also bring some risks. Use this checklist:
- Make sure that your dog has all its vaccines.
- Give your dog a tick and flea product. Many dogs meet in parks.
- Check the ground with the back of your hand. If it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for paws.
- Bring water and a bowl.
- Watch your dog all the time. Do not look at your phone for a long time.
- Take your dog out of the park if it is afraid or if another dog is rough.
- Leave if your dog gets tired, pants heavily or looks for shade.
Do not bring a puppy that has not completed its vaccines. Read our guide to puppy and kitten vaccines.
Do not bring a dog that is ill, has diarrhoea or coughs. Other dogs can catch some diseases.
After the visit
When you come home:
- Check your dog for ticks, cuts and grass seeds. Look between the toes and in the ears.
- Check the paws for red or damaged pads.
- Give your dog fresh water and a rest in a cool room.
Does your dog limp, cough, or have a cut after the park? Call us. We are open every day from 10am to 10pm at AMSA 2, Al Barsha South Fourth, JVC. You can come without an appointment, or book online.
